What is Traditional Chinese Medicine ? Traditional Chinese Medicine is holistic and ongoing, involving the individual in a lifetime of preventive, and life enhancing practices
How does Acupuncture work ?
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine each human organ is associated with specific points on the skin. The points are linked by invisible lines called meridians or channels. The body’s natural energy of Qi(chi) flows through these channels. When disease or dysfunction occurs, traditional acupuncturists know which points to manipulate to restore the natural flow of energy and to restore balance to the body’s systems.
Healing Combination
As our knowledge of stress-related health problems and immune system disorders increases, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture have a lot to offer.
Why is the “Immune System” so important ?
It is important to know that the immune system’s sole purpose is to protect the body from disease and infection. When it is working properly, it is an incredible defense mechanism and it has everything it needs to do its job. It destroys invading agents, eliminates harmful pathogens, and battles against pollutants and toxins. The immune system does more that moderns medicine and drugs could ever do.
While it can be strengthened and improved through proper nutrition and care, if it is denied the most essential nutrients, it becomes weak and inefficient, leaving the body vulnerable to attacks. In fact, most of today’s degenerative diseases are the direct result of immune dysfunction and can often be traced to poor dietary habits.
What is Nutritional Immunology ?
Simply put, nutritional immunology is the study of the effects of plant foods on the functions of the immune system. For example, plant foods such as fruit and vegetables have been shown to provide more than just a basic nutrition. They contain amazing “phytonutrients” which can do wonders for the body. These “photochemicals” can inhibit the growth of cancer cells; prevent the buildup of dietary fat; reduce probability of colon, breast and prostate cancer; decrease growth of micro-organisms; and improve blood lipids and serum cholesterol levels, to mention but a few.
